Teacher Georcelle of G-Force admits ‘artistic differences’ with Sarah Geronimo amid supposed rift

G-Force’s creative director Georcelle Dapat-Sy has addressed the speculations about her rumored falling-out with Sarah Geronimo, saying there were “artistic differences” between the two of them although they remain in good terms.
Speculations of Dapat-Sy and Geronimo’s rift made waves on social media after netizens noticed that the dance troupe was absent during the singer-actress’ 20th showbiz anniversary concert last Friday, May 12.
Eagle-eyed netizens also pointed out that Geronimo didn’t use the original dance steps of her hit song “Tala,” which were choreographed by G-Force, and instead used a different series of movements which were more fast-paced than the original.

While Dapat-Sy didn’t directly confirm the speculated falling-out, she admitted in a text message to talent manager-showbiz writer Ogie Diaz that there were “artistic differences” between her and Geronimo.
“Thank you for asking and not speculating. Walang side nila or side ko. Isa lang ang mithiin ng lahat… support [Sarah Geronimo] on her 20th year,” Dapat-Sy’s text message read, which was shown on Diaz’s vlog last Sunday, May 14.
“SG is 35 [years old]. We’ve been training her and G-Force [has] been dancing with her for 16 years. She’s looking for growth as an artist and as a person. She wants to try other things. There were artistic differences and I wanna support her as she embarks on this new chapter even if it means stepping out for a while,” she further explained.
The G-Force creative director, however, admitted that her differences with Geronimo felt like a break-up, as she noted that she did “everything out of love and respect” for the singer-actress.

“Mama Ogs, I did everything out of love and respect for her as an artist and a friend. Parang love team kami for 16 years, but this year gusto niya to try other things. This process was painful for G-Force. Most of them cried, especially the choreographers who have been training hard to bring out the best in her. It’s like a break up,” she continued.
Dapat-Sy also noted that while she wants Geronimo to exercise her “artistic freedom,” she revealed that she pulled out from the “Tala” singer’s concert in March 2023 as a way of being firm to her creative freedom as well.
“SG wants something else, I want her to exercise that artistic freedom. But it’s also my right to exercise my artistic freedom. I had to pull out 2 months ago in March. Of course, my team will always understand and respect my decision. This is me encouraging SG to experience that creative freedom and to be the ultimate decision-maker in producing and directing her 20th [anniversary concert],” she said.
During the vlog, Diaz also shared that he asked Dapat-Sy whether she demanded Geronimo to settle at least P150,000 should her choreography be used during the show, to which she said that she wasn’t in a position to do so.
“OMG, demand?! Why will I demand [it]? Wala ako sa position to demand for anything especially when no work is delivered pero I can quote for the price of the use of my copyrighted works. I sent a personal letter, not a demand letter. I did not demand [it],” she stated.
“Not being a part of her 20th [showbiz anniversary] is my gift of freedom so she can fully express her creative dreams,” the dancer-choreographer continued, as she noted that she still remains on good terms with Geronimo.
“I sent her a message of, ‘HumBhaaam love and energy’ on that day of the concert after she greeted me on our 20th anniversary. Our relationship should be okay and not be affected by public opinion,” she added.
Geronimo has yet to address the speculations, as of this writing. EDV
