‘Extraordinary Attorney Woo’, ‘Pachinko’ get nods at 28th Critics’ Choice Awards

Korean dramas “Extraordinary Attorney Woo” and “Pachinko” have each earned a nomination for Best Foreign Language Series at the 28th Critics Choice Awards, alongside seven other series.

The popular dramas are included in the United States-based Critics Choice Association (CCA)’s list of TV nominees for the annual Critics Choice Awards released on its official website on Tuesday, Dec. 7.

The seven other nominees include “1899” (Netflix), “Borgen” (Netflix), “Garcia!” (HBO Max), “The Kingdom Exodus” (MUBI), “Kleo” (Netflix), “My Brilliant Friend” (HBO), and Tehran (Apple TV+).

“Extraordinary Attorney Woo” tells the story of an autistic rookie attorney who gets hired by a prestigious law firm in Seoul, South Korea. The Netflix and ENA series, which ran from June to August 2022, stars Park Eun-bin, Kang Tae-oh, and Kang Ki-young.

“Pachinko”, on the other hand, is an adaptation of a 2017 novel of the same name by Lee Min-jin. The series was released on Apple TV+, and the cast includes Youn Yuh-jung, Kim Min-ha, Yu-na, Jin Ha, Yoon Kyung-ho, Lee Min-ho, and Soji Arai, among others.

The winners of the 28th Critics Choice Awards will be announced at the gala night on Jan. 15, 2023 in Los Angeles, U.S.

Netflix breakout drama “Squid Game” bagged the Best Foreign Language Series award, while its lead star Lee Jung-jae became the first Korean actor to receive the Best Actor in a Drama Series award at the 27th Critics Choice Awards. EDV
