Olympic gold medalist Hidilyn Diaz looked radiant in every frame as the latest cover girl of a local lifestyle magazine for its 20th anniversary issue.

Diaz made history last July 26 after she ended the Philippines’ drought for a gold medal since it began participating in the Olympic Games in 1924. She delivered the victory by lifting a total of 224 kilograms in the women’s 55 kilograms weightlifting competition in Tokyo.

The athlete was glammed up by celebrity stylist Liz Uy and donned several outfits for Tatler Philippines‘ 20th anniversary cover photo shoot taken by Mark Nicdao, as seen on Uy’s Instagram page yesterday, Sept. 8.

Diaz wore a white butterfly-sleeved top, a light yellow blouse and a white netted dress, among others. The Olympian had some touches of gold as well, such as a gold bracelet, a gold ring and the gold medal she won.

“She’s a cover girl. Our country’s pride, gold medalist Hidilyn Diaz,” Uy said. “What an honor to be part of this. #GotTheGold”

Meanwhile, Diaz was ecstatic over seeing the photos while admitting that she was tired while they were being taken, as seen on her Instagram page, also yesterday.

“Sa birthday ni Mama Mary, feeling ko ang ganda ko rito,” the Olympian said. “Sa gitna ng napakaraming challenges, nangyayari ang dapat mangyari nang maganda, mahusay at mabuti! Pagod ako nu’ng kinunan ito pero sobrang saya ko!”

(On Mama Mary’s birthday, I feel beautiful here. Amid many challenges, everything that should happen happened beautifully. I was tired when these photos were being taken but I am so happy.)

Diaz is the second Filipino athlete to win multiple Olympic medals, joining the ranks of swimmer Teofilo Yldefonso who won bronze in the men’s 200-meter breaststroke in 1928 and 1932. JB
