Vilma Santos, Karen Davila, fellow celebs mourn Ricky Lo’s death: ‘Good soul gone too soon’
Many celebrities paid tribute to veteran entertainment news editor and columnist Ricardo “Ricky” F. Lo, who died yesterday, May 4, at 75 years old.
Actress-governor Vilma Santos Recto, for one, offered her condolences to the family of the respected journalist via Instagram earlier today, May 5.
“Thank you Ricky. I love you my friend!!! I will miss you. Rest in peace,” Santos said.
“Our sincere condolences and prayers,” she, meanwhile, wrote in the caption.

Comedienne Ai-ai delas Alas likewise took to Instagram earlier today to mourn the passing of Lo, whom she called “one of my real [friends] in the industry.”
“[Pahinga] ka na friend… Rest in peace… salamat sa ating pagkakaibigang punong puno ng respeto sa isat isa .. sobrang nalungkot ako nabawasan na naman kaibigan ko …bihira pa naman makakita ng totoong kaibigan sa mundong kinagagalawan [natin],” Delas Alas said.

The post came with a photo of Lo and Delas Alas together, as well as a screenshot of one of their friendly phone conversations where Lo texted Delas Alas, “Ganda mo (You are beautiful), hehehe!!!”
News anchor Karen Davila, meanwhile, paid tribute to her fellow journalist as she marked his death as “truly the passing of an era in showbiz reporting.”
“Kind [and soft-spoken] but would always get the scoop! He was always first. You either feared or loved him — depending how you ended up on his powerful column. Tough act to follow,” Davila said on Twitter also earlier today.

“So shocked and sad to hear about the passing of Ricky Lo, we had just talked to each other less than two weeks ago before he printed this article about me,” Richard Yap, meanwhile, posted on Twitter also earlier today.
“He will be sorely missed. Another good soul gone too soon,” he added.

Lo’s death was confirmed earlier today by the Philippine Star, for which he wrote his FunFare column. They did not disclose, however, the cause of his death.
Aside from being a columnist and editor, Lo was also the host of a number of show biz-related programs throughout his career, namely, ABS-CBN’s “The Buzz,” GMA’s “Startalk,” and his own show on QTV 11, “The Ricky Lo Exclusives.”. /ra
