New trailer for eagerly anticipated ‘F9’ released

Buckle up and watch the latest trailer release of “Fast & Furious 9” (F9) at Universal Pictures PH’s UPI PH Facebook and UPI PH YouTube.

F9 is the ninth chapter in the “Fast & Furious” saga, where Vin Diesel’s Dom Toretto is leading a quiet life off the grid with Letty and their son. But danger always lurks over their peaceful horizon and, this time, forces Dom to confront the sins of his past to save those he loves the most.

Together with his crew, they rev up once more to stop a plot led by Dom’s forsaken brother, skilled assassin Jakob, played by John Cena.

F9 marks the return of Justin Lee as director, who helmed “Fast & Furious’” 3rd to 6th chapters, when the franchise was transformed into a global blockbuster.

The film also stars returning cast members Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Jordana Brewster, Nathalie Emmanuel and Sung Kang, with Helen Mirren and Charlize Theron. F9 also features Grammy-winning superstar Cardi B as Leysa, a woman with a connection to Dom’s past. From Universal Pictures, F9 will open soon in PH cinemas.

‘From Our Family to Yours’ concert moved to April 30

Due to quarantine guidelines, the digital concert “PascualLove: From Our Family to Yours” has been moved from April 23 to 30 at 7 p.m. and will be available on the YouTube channel of Wish FM 105.7.

ABS-CBN files $40-M lawsuit vs 40 pirate domains

ABS-CBN filed a $40-million lawsuit in the US District Court for the Southern District of Florida against 40 domains pirating ABS-CBN content and infringing its copyrights and trademarks. The court recently issued a preliminary injunction to take down the domains with a serving notice.

The lawsuit comes as news reports show piracy has made a comeback during the COVID-19 pandemic. According to a report by TVtechnology.com on how media companies are dealing with piracy in the age of COVID-19, lockdowns resulted into more breaches of streaming security as a result of higher demand.

Former ‘TNT’ finalist releases debut single

Former “Tawag ng Tanghalan” finalist Sof Vasquez journeys back to the captivating era of ‘90s love songs in his debut single “Bakit Hindi Ko Sinabi,” released under ABS-CBN’s Old School Records.

Composed by label head Kikx Salazar, the song takes inspiration from R&B/soul icon James Ingram and carries the nostalgic vibe of ‘90s ballads. It’s also an emotional ode to “the one that got away.”

Sof placed third in the “TNT All-Star Grand Resbak” in 2019. Before this, he also became a grand finalist in the competition’s second season in 2018.
