Pangilinan serenades wife Sharon on her 55th birthday with his version of ‘Mr. DJ’

MANILA, Philippines — Sen. Francis Pangilinan on Wednesday gave his wife, Sharon Cuneta, a lovely birthday surprise, serenading her with his own version of  her hit song“Mr DJ.”

“Hindi naman ako singer pero susubukan ko ito for your birthday. We will surprise you with this interesting song number,”  Pangilinan said in a Facebook video filmed at 10 a.m., dedicated to Cuneta, who turned 55 years old this Wednesday, Jan. 6.

As a guitar played the accompaniment of the song, which Cuneta recorded in 1978 when she was 12 years old, Pangilinan started singing — but using his own lyrics.

Pangilinan and Cuneta’s children also helped out in the birthday surprise, with singer Frankie as the musical director, Miel as the videographer, and Mimig as the “moral support provider.”
