Sharon Cuneta on #OustKiko plot: ‘Bilog ang mundo, at mapalad ang inaapi’

MANILA, Philippines — Sharon Cuneta on Wednesday came to the defense of her husband, Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan, as he became the target of an alleged ouster plot by online trolls.

“Bilog ang mundo. At mapalad ang inaapi (The world is round, and those who are oppressed are more fortunate),” the Megastar said in an Instagram post, as she shared a screenshot of a tweet by human rights lawyer Jose Manuel “Chel” Diokno.

The veteran singer-actress admitted that as much as she wants to refrain from posting about politics, she could not help but stand up for her husband.

“Matagal ko na pinalampas ang mga pamimintas at masasakit na salita laban sa asawa ko, pero hindi na po kaya ng pamilya namin,” Cuneta said.

(I have always let the criticisms and the harsh words against my husband slide, but our family could not take it anymore.)

“Lalo na ng mga anak naming wala namang malay at di hiniling na dito sa pamilya namin sila isilang,” she added.

(Especially our children who are not aware and did not ask to be born into our family.)

It was Cuneta’s daughter, Frankie Pangilinan, who first warned that certain “FB boomers” are out to oust Senator Kiko as chairman of the Senate committee on constitutional amendments.

Senator Kiko, meanwhile, said that he would be ready to vacate his committee chairmanship, but only if Senate leaders asked him to.

“I wonder who’ll be next? Going too far. So sad,” Cuneta expressed her disappointment.

“O, Pilipinas naming mahal…ano na ang ginagawa sa iyo (Oh our beloved Philippines, what are they doing to you)…Dear God, You are alive, You see all, You know all. We trust only in YOU,” she added.
