LOOK: Korina Sanchez in search of new owner for Chow Chow
TV host Korina Sanchez is in search of a “furever” home for an abandoned dog that was almost killed by its former owners because they could no longer afford to take care of their pet.
Sanchez said that whoever adopts the 7-month-old Chow Chow named Cotton will get an “adoption kit” from the TV host, including a dog bed, shampoo, brush, bowls, collar and leash, sample dog food, vitamins and supplements, as per her Instagram post last Monday, July 13.
The TV host apparently stopped the dog from getting euthanized, said to be a painless way of killing animals. Sanchez also thanked veterinarian Ally Almario for refusing to euthanize the Chow Chow. The veterinary clinic is currently housing the abandoned puppy while it is still in search of a new home.
“So, here I am knocking on your door, whoever hero you are in need of more love in your life, and maybe would like to give Cotton his forever home,” Sanchez said.
Cotton is also healthy, vaccinated and dewormed, according to Sanchez.

Article continues after this advertisementAfter an overwhelming amount of pet-lovers reached out to Sanchez’s call, the “Rated K” host promised that she will find a good home for Cotton, but it might take some time.
“Right now, we are CLOSING the applications temporarily, until we find Cotton’s perfect family,” Sanchez announced yesterday, July 14.
The host also listed down some of the qualities she is looking for in Cotton’s new owner.
“Please know that I prefer that my dogs should be able to go inside the house and will sleep INSIDE THE HOUSE, and not in a cage,” she said. “Chows need to breathe, and dapat malamig or maaliwalas ang surroundings kasi makapal ang fur (the surroundings need to be cool and bright because Chows have thick fur).”
Cotton’s new owner should also be responsible enough to take the Chow Chow to the veterinarian clinic for regular check-ups. The pet must be groomed regularly. Sanchez also does not want the dog to be tied in chains.
“You also must know we will neuter Cotton before we give him away,” she said. “Ayaw namin na gagawin [siyang] palahian or negosyo.” (We do not want him to be used for breeding or for profit.)
Sanchez said she checks on the dogs she lets go for adoption. Those who applied to be Cotton’s new owners will be called for a short interview.

The TV host previously put up a call for adoption for a pitbull named Mocha and was able to find the dog a new family.

Those who might not be selected to adopt Cotton should not be discouraged, according to Sanchez, as the host promised to keep posting more lovable dogs up for adoption. JB
