Enchong Dee laments cutting of ‘old beautiful trees’ in Baguio

Actor Enchong Dee criticized the cutting of 54 trees this month for the development of a condominium in Baguio City. 

Dee, who has been vocal on social issues in the country, said the move goes against the global environmental movement to counter climate change.

“This is what happens when you [allow] backwards leadership rule,” the actor said on Twitter yesterday, June 29.

“While the whole world is trying to fight climate change, here we are cutting old beautiful trees that well… hmmm… [provide] us oxygen to [breathe].”

Dee’s tweet was in response to the developer having secured the necessary permits from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR).

The developer has since given 10,800 seedlings of Benguet pine to Baguio’s local DENR units to replace the lost trees and to support the city’s regreening program. NVG
