Mark Bautista auctions paintings to raise funds for mass testing amid COVID-19

Mark Bautista is auctioning off his paintings to help raise funds for COVID-19 mass testing amid the ongoing pandemic.
All profits from the sales of the pieces will be given to Angel Locsin and Anne Curtis’ “Shop & Share” effort, as per his Instagram post last Sunday, May 31. Bidding for his artworks started yesterday, June 1.
“Been working on this and I think it’s time for me to let go of these ‘babies,’” Bautista said before explaining how he came to his decision.

The singer stated that his laptop that contained all of his accompaniment tracks had crashed when the lockdown began last March. He added that he could not have it fixed or buy a new one, which later led him to decline invites to perform for livestream shows.
Since he could not participate in online shows to support relief efforts, Bautista decided to revive his love for art to help in his own way. The singer studied architecture before his career kicked off.
While the last paintings he made were from 10 years ago, Bautista managed to create new artworks during the lockdown.
”So now I’m selling all of them and I’m happy that it’s all for a good cause,” he added. “All items are mostly from my past works.”
Bautista has since received bids of up to P100,000 for some of his pieces, as seen on his Instagram Stories earlier today.

He also posted a “last glimpse” of his other paintings while stating that he will be announcing the winning bidders tonight. Those interested in more of his artworks can view them on his Instagram page @markbautistapaints.
