MANILA, Philippines — Being forced to go off the air on television after its franchise lapsed does not mean ABS-CBN would stop delivering entertainment to its audience.

Although the government’s quarantine measures prevented stars from physically filming shows, the network capitalized the use of video conference app Zoom to feature actors and actresses in fresh content dubbed “Online Kapamilya Shows.”

Programs that were aired on television before making their way into the online platform like “Banana Sundae” which launches new episodes every Friday and “Tonight With Boy Abunda” which releases short entertainment news on weekday nights.

The members of the cast of the shows which were airing prior to the network’s shutdown are also featured in the new platform.

The cast of drama series “Love Thy Woman” will return in a new show called “Love Thy Chika” which streams every Sunday while hosts of “I Can See Your Voice” stage an online version of Pinoy bingo game in “Bingo Ka ‘Day” and a guessing game in “Hula Who” which streams on weekends.

Other new shows include “Doc Knows Best” with Jodi Sta. Maria, “Harapan Kay Mamang” with Pokwang, “Paligayahin Niyo Ako” with Ivana Alawi, and more.

ABS-CBN unceremoniously went off the air last May 5 in compliance with National Telecommunications Commission’s (NTC) cease and desist order after the network’s franchise lapsed.

This forced the network’s news programs to utilize social media sites like Facebook and YouTube to deliver its content.
