Singer Frizzle Anne’s nurse sister positive with COVID-19
MANILA, Philippines — Indie singer Frizzle Anne Dimayuga announced Tuesday night that her sister, a nurse, has been stricken with coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
The singer-songwriter revealed on Twitter, “My sister, a frontliner, is now CoVid-19 positive.”

“While we pray unceasingly for her recovery, I also pray that tangible help from our government will be felt by frontliners (and) all Filipinos in need now!”
“Actions, more than words. Now,” she urged.

Frizzle Anne said, “It pinches my heart knowing that my nieces (10 & 8yrs old) have to be left at home looking after themselves because their mom is confined, and (their) dad‘s under isolation.”
The singer reiterated her call for the government’s help. “Kailangang lumakas ang immune system nila, pero paano sila magkakaroon ng means? Wala silang trabaho.”
(Their immune system needs to be stronger, but how will they have the means? They won’t have work.)

Frizzle Anne also shared on Instagram her sister Francis’ statement, which detailed her symptoms and what she felt receiving her results.

“I play the frontline as an ER staff nurse in St. Luke’s Medical Center in BGC and I was one of the firsts to handle PUIs at the height of the COVID outbreak,” Francis said. She disclosed that she first experienced symptoms on March 14, in particular colds, a dry throat and a headache.
The nurse also said she felt fatigued on day 8, feeling excruciating body pains all over.
“I tested positive last March 28 and have been in sundry pool of emotions since then. It’s my third day of confinement yet it wasn’t until this very moment that I began to fully comprehend the gut-wrenching news. I am now part of the census,” she said.
“I think of my husband and my children and the huge chance of them succumbing to the disease because of me, the thoughts make my stomach churn!”
However, she remained hopeful despite the situation. “God has a purpose He is yet to reveal and I am absolutely sure He is far from done working in my life. I feel so much better now and claiming full recovery!”
Health professionals especially those at the frontline, or those attending to patients possibly infected by COVID-19, are at risk of contracting the same disease.
A number of doctors who had caught the virus had already succumbed to the disease, while hundreds of medical workers in Metro Manila have been put under quarantine to limit the spread of the disease.
