Gutierrez, Lahbati couple fund-raise for COVID-19 frontliners

Inspired by their fellow celebrities and friends helping those affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, recently wed couple Richard Gutierrez and Sarah Lahbati started a fundraiser together with respective families.

Gutierrez and Lahbati explained that the donations will be used to provide food, urgent medical necessities and basic goods for all the workers in the frontline of the battle against the virus. The couple linked the fundraising page to their respective posts on Instagram yesterday, March 19.

“Inspired by our friends who have been helping, we have decided to do our part and help out from our home together with our families and friends…,” Gutierrez said.

The goods and funds procured by the couple will be given to health workers, the military and police officers who are manning the checkpoints, as well as public utility vehicle drivers.

Aside from monetary donations, the couple is also accepting contributions in the form of medical supplies, food and toiletries.

The online petition was signed by Richard and Sarah, their children Kai and Zion, as well as the actor’s family including Annabelle Rama, Eddie, Ruffa and Raymond Gutierrez, and more.

Against all odds, Sarah and Richard pushed through with a simple and intimate wedding last week, attended by only a few loved ones. This followed the postponement of their initially planned nuptial due to the pandemic.

Some celebrities have also been doing the best they can to utilize their platforms and help others during this time of crisis. Comedienne Pokwang handed out food and drinks to health workers and uniformed personnel patrolling the metropolis in view of the enhanced community quarantine imposed by the government. Actress Bela Padilla also raised P3 million in an effort to aid street vendors and other citizens affected by COVID-19.  /ra
