Why Gladys doesn’t get tired of playing ‘kontrabida’ roles

Gladys Reyes

Aside from the bedroom, the fave part of Gladys Reyes and hubby Christopher Roxas of their home is the kitchen. The Kapampangan in her and the French in him are certified foodies. That’s why they put up Estela Restaurant, which is the go-to place for good food and cool vibes in Cainta.

Gladys and Chris are taking their passion for cuisine a notch higher in their new venture, Sommereaux Catering (call 0917-1923242). Name the dish, they can whip it up for you. He’s the chef, and she’s the chief. Their specialties are as fierce as the villain roles that Gladys has become famous for.

FEATURED STORIES

If you and Chris were a dish, what would you both be?

I will be chicken curry, because that’s the dish that Chris cannot have enough of. Chris will be grilled salmon, since that’s my fave.

If Sommereaux could cater for a foreign celebrity, who would you want it to be?

Don’t you get tired of playing “kontrabida” roles?

Not at all. I still enjoy playing them. Being mean and rude, which I can only do onscreen, is really challenging.

What’s your fave memory with Juday (Judy Ann Santos) from your “Mara Clara” days?

When we were doing out-of-town shows. There were times we’d go from North to South.

What makes you and Carmi (Martin) the best of friends?

Our friendship started in 1997, when we did “Ikaw Na Sana.” I’m full of energy, which rubs off on her. I always make her laugh, so she asked me if I could sleep over in her house. Before we knew it, we became each other’s BFF. We totally get each other.

What are the ingredients of your happy marriage?

First is loyalty, followed by trust, good sex, open communication and having fun. Love spices it all up.

Still on Mommy Divine

In my previous column, I wrote that Divine Geronimo must not be too much of a mother to be a friend to her daughter, Sarah.

A colleague commented, “Although you have a point, I feel sad for Mommy Divine. Out of respect, she should have been informed about the plans of Sarah and Matteo (Guidicelli). Since it was a Christian wedding, ’di ba dapat, ‘Honor thy father and mother?’”

I countered in jest, “In every wedding, there must be something old, new, borrowed and blue. Mommy Divine is the blue one.”

Guess who

I wonder if Bitchy Celeb (BC) knows that her longtime partner (LP) is smitten with Classy Lady (CL). To think that BC has the audacity to flaunt that she’s LP’s “official one.” CL, who’s old and rich is a better match for big-time LP than BC, who’s just nouveau riche.

Sometimes, love isn’t love until there’s money involved. Aside from full emotional investment, high-end peeps like them also require solid financial investment in the romance department.
