Australian-born television star Anne Curtis is appealing for donations as Australia is being ravaged by the worst bushfires the country has ever experienced in recorded history.

Curtis, who is currently in Australia, encouraged people to donate to help fight the devastation she described as “heartbreaking and alarming.” She made her call for help on Instagram earlier today, Jan. 8.

“The other country I like to call home is burning,” she said. “I was really praying for stronger rains to come and soothe the burning land but it looks like it’s going to be a sunny day here in Victoria and probably across the country.”

The actress’ call for help came with a series of photos depicting the damage the bushfires have inflicted upon the country. The fires have been sweeping across the country since September 2019.

At least 25 people have died while numerous reports claim about half a billion animals have been killed by the fires, as of writing. Around 2,000 homes meanwhile have been razed as the blaze has so far claimed around 5.9 million hectares of land.

Curtis pointed out that people like her, “who [wish] they could do more physically to lend a hand” but cannot, could instead donate to organizations bent on helping out the victims of the wildfires, both humans and animals.

“A little goes a long way. So much love has been coming in from people locally and globally but the battle hasn’t ended and [there] is still so much do for communities, land and animals who have been affected by the monstrous bushfires,” she stressed.

“Let us pray for more rain across the country, temperatures to stay at a low, strength and high morale for the firemen and volunteers and for healing for all those affected,” she added.

Curtis listed down the Australian Red Cross, Vinnies Victoria, Country Fire Authority Victoria, Animals Australia and the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals as organizations or charities people can donate to. JB
