Madonna: Harvey Weinstein was incredibly sexually flirtatious, forward
Madonna has revealed that Harvey Weinstein—the powerful Hollywood mogul who has been revealed as a sexual predator—had “crossed lines and boundaries” in some of their past interactions.
“He was incredibly sexually flirtatious and forward with me when we were working together; he was married at the time, and I certainly wasn’t interested,” she said in a recent interview with the New York Times.
Her 1991 documentary movie, “Truth or Dare,” and 2011 directorial debut, “W.E.,” were distributed and executive-produced, respectively, by Weinstein. Madonna said she was “well aware” of talks about the industry bigwig’s questionable behavior.
“I was aware that he did the same with a lot of other women I knew in the business. And we were all, ‘Harvey gets to do that because he has so much power, and he’s so successful … everybody wants to work with him, so you have to put up with it.’ So that was it,” she related.
Now that Weinstein has fallen from grace—after multiple women came forward with stories of sexual abuse at his hands—she couldn’t help but think, “Finally.”

I don’t think that’s good karma, anyway,” added Madonna. “But it was good that somebody who had been abusing his power for so many years was called out and held accountable.”—ALLAN POLICARPIO
