Kelly Clarkson may have been her usual perky self when she hosted the recent Billboard Music Awards. But little did everyone know that the powerhouse vocalist was already fighting through appendicitis on that very stage.

But as the adage goes, the show must go on.

“I may or may not have broken down in tears after the show from pain,” the singer tweeted a day after her hosting stint, which she made sure to fulfill under any circumstance. “I flew home directly after the event, nailed the surgery early this morning.”

The emergency appendectomy went smoothly. The recovery? That seems to be a completely different story.

“Quick recap … recovering after surgery super duper sucks. Turns out I don’t ‘rest’ well (so bored),” the “American Idol” Season 1 winner wrote on Twitter. “Pain meds make me feel a different kind of horrible and make me question if I would rather feel the pain, instead.”

Thankfully, though, her medication has had no effect on her sense of humor. “Two of my three scars feel as if Lord Voldemort is always near,” she quipped, referencing “Harry Potter.”—ALLAN POLICARPIO
