Kanye West wants abolition of amendment outlawing slavery — and Chris Evans is mad

Rapper Kanye West may have changed his name to Ye recently, but he’s still unchanging when it comes to his support of United States President Donald Trump, and penchant for expressing his shocking political opinions on social media.
West recently made a stir — one that got actor Chris Evans to clap back at him — when he took to Twitter on Sept. 30 to share a photo to his fans. In the picture, West can be seen wearing a red “Make America Great Again” cap while inside a private jet.
“This represents good and America becoming whole again,” wrote West. “We will no longer outsource to other countries. We build factories here in America and create jobs. We will provide jobs for all who are free from prisons as we abolish the 13th amendment. Message sent with love.”

It seemed strange coming from West, a black man, as the 13th Amendment in the U.S. Constitution formally declared the abolition of slavery in America in 1865.
Article continues after this advertisementThe amendment states, “Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.”

But his call for abolishing the amendment that outlawed slavery had many up in arms, one of which was Marvel’s “Captain America” himself Chris Evans. Evans re-tweeted West’s controversial statement on Sept. 30, saying that it was “maddening.”
Evans did not hold back with thorny words, as he wrote, “There’s nothing more maddening than debating someone who doesn’t know history, doesn’t read books, and frames their myopia as virtue.”
“The level of unapologetic conjecture I’ve encountered lately isn’t just frustrating,” he continued to say. “It’s retrogressive, unprecedented and absolutely terrifying.”

As for Evan’s tweet, his has amassed over 345,000 likes in less than 24 hours.
West, in the past, has been criticized for his opinions on slavery. Back in May, he was slammed by netizens and TMZ producer Van Lathan after he remarked that “slavery is a choice.”
Lathan then expressed his disappointment towards West, saying that he has morphed into “something that’s not real.”
Other artists such as John Legend, Snoop Dogg and Black Eyed Peas’ will.i.am also called out West for his controversial remark. JB
