It’s any mother’s dream to see her child finish school, especially if it’s as monumental as receiving one’s college diploma. Veteran actress Lotlot de Leon is one such proud mother, as her unico hijo Diego recently graduated from the University of Asia and the Pacific.

Eldest sister actress Janine Gutierrez took to her Instagram Stories yesterday, June 25, to share a clip of a tender moment between her younger brother and mom Lotlot. In the clip, Lotlot can be seen kissing and hugging her son Diego, while the latter showed her his framed graduation portrait.

In a sweet letter, Janine wrote that their mom never got to go to college and that her only wish was for her children to graduate.

“Mom didn’t get the chance to go to college so all she ever asked of us was to finish school,” wrote Janine. “Well mom you’re the one who got us through all the late nights and impossible accounting exams and long reports and for kuya (brother) — balancing basketball and school.”

Janine added, “3 kids down! So technically, you’ve graduated 3 times too. Love you.”

Lotlot too was the ever-excited and proud mom as she shared a photo of her dashing son on her Instagram page last June 24, where she revealed to fans that he will be graduating soon.

“Someone is graduating college soon,” wrote Lotlot. “Hi Kuya, @diegogutz08.”

Last March, Lotlot’s youngest daughter Maxine Gutierrez graduated from Saint Pedro Poveda College. Despite being already separated from ex-husband Ramon Christopher, the two still came together for their daughter’s special day.

“It’s never about us.. but always about our children,” Lotlot wrote then of Max’s graduation. “Never namin pinagkait ang mga anak namin sa isa’t isa. Pagdating sa mga bata it was always a mutual decision.” (We never kept our children away from each other. When it comes to our children, it’s always a mutual decision.)

It’s never about us..but always about our children. We have gone through way too much pain, arguments and misunderstandings. It wasn’t easy but we both have learned that for the sake of our children our PRIDES should always be set aside. Never namin pinagkait ang mga anak namin sa isa’t isa. Pagdating sa mga bata it was always a mutual decision. We are parents first. Respect. That is why sa mga ganitong pagkakataon nagpapasalamat ako sa dios na ginabayan nya kame and I’m thankful that our children are where they’re supposed to be. I’m also very grateful to Fadi the person who God have blessed me to be with for being so loving and supportive. Salamat, Mahal! Anak ko Maxine, we love you anak and again we are very proud of you! ❤

It’s no wonder Janine has every ounce of respect and admiration for her mom, as Lotlot truly shows how much of a warrior woman she is. JB
