Diana Zubiri thankful for son’s successful operation on cleft palate: ‘It was the best gift’

Diana Zubiri has nothing to show but gratefulness after her 9-year-old son King underwent a successful operation on his cleft palate.

The actress shared this photo of her and her son smiling to the camera, as seen on Instagram yesterday.

“Seeing you feel better after the operation makes me feel so thankful,” Zubiri said. Since the operation happened on Monday, a day after her 33rd birthday, the actress said King feeling better after the procedure was the “best gift. Happy birthday indeed!”

Her husband, Australian-Filipino businessman Andy Smith, also posted his well wishes for their son in this photo of him and little sister Aliyah Rose. He wrote: “Praying for ur speedy recovery Kuya @kinggarciasmith we love u very much.”

King underwent surgery for the third time for bone grafting to normalize the growth of his permanent teeth, the Philippine Entertainment Portal (PEP) reported yesterday. It was the final operation for the boy.

He was born with a cleft lip and cleft palate. When he was 3 months old, he underwent his first operation to close the cleft lip. At 6 months, doctors made him a functional palate to fix the development of his teeth and facial bones.  Katrina Hallare /ra
