No need for Sandra Bullock to turn Spider-Man brown
Sandra Bullock, who is mother to two adopted African-American kids, cried in the presence of the “Black Panther” cast, she told Access Hollywood at the Oscar red carpet last week.
“I started to cry backstage when I was telling them how much the film meant to me as a woman … [and] as a mother,” Bullock said. “I [said], ‘Oh my God, what am I doing?’”
She added: “But that says a lot about where we are in this world, and the world of superheroes. I’m so grateful to Marvel. Five years ago, my son [Louis] asked me if there were brown [Lego people]. I said, ‘Yes there are,’ and I got a Sharpie (marker) and turned Spider-Man brown… I don’t have to turn them brown anymore.”
While he’s not able to watch it yet because of the intense depictions of violence, Bullock disclosed that her other child is enjoying the movie merchandise: “My daughter [Laila] has all the swag. She runs around in a Black Panther mask, which is scary when she comes out of the dark!” —OLIVER PULUMBARIT
