‘Deadpool 2’ gets earlier release date

The highly anticipated sequel to the 2016 Marvel movie “Deadpool” will now get an earlier release date.

This comes after Fox announced that it will make changes in releasing future “X-Men” flicks, thus affecting other movies such as “Gambit” and “The New Mutants”, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Instead of releasing on June 1 this year, fans can expect Ryan Reynolds to be back on the big screen as the red-clad mercenary on May 18, in United States cinemas.

“Deadpool 2” will be put up against Sony’s supernatural horror film “Slender Man”, and will be released one week before Disney’s “Solo: A Star Wars Story”.

Meanwhile, “The New Mutants”, starring Anya Taylor-Joy from “Split” and “Stranger Things” star Charlie Heaton will not be released for another 10 months, marking its release on Feb. 22, 2019.

“Gambit”, which will star Channing Tatum as the titular character, will have a June 7, 2019 opening date. Its director, Gore Verbinski, just bowed out of the project and the studio is currently searching for a replacement.
