After Stan Lee teased in November last year that a highly anticipated “Black Widow” movie could be produced, Marvel has taken a step toward it by hiring screenwriter Jac Schaeffer.

At the Supanova Comic Con in Brisbane, Lee said in a panel, “One day there will be a Black Widow movie,” reports ComicBook.

Variety reports that Schaeffer was chosen by Marvel President Kevin Feige after screening a number of candidates. Actress Scarlett Johansson also had input as Marvel executives met with her on hiring a writer.

However, it doesn’t mean the film would be produced just yet. Marvel also hasn’t confirmed the news.

“Thor: Ragnarok” director Taika Waititi told io9 that he was interested in making a Black Widow film.

“[I want to see] Black Widow as something crazy and a bit funnier than we expect it to be, because we know her story and it’s very sullen and very dark, and her history is very dark,” he said.

So far, Johansson has starred in six superhero films as the character. She will appear in “Avengers: Infinity War,” which is set to be released in April.

Schaeffer wrote “Olaf’s Frozen Adventure” and the alien invasion comedy “The Shower,” which impressed Anne Hathaway so much so that she jumped onboard the project. Hathaway also hired her to rewrite “Dirty Rotten Scoundrels” as “Nasty Women,” which is set to be released this year.  Niña V. Guno /ra
