Nadine Lustre’s father, Ulysses Lustre, has inked the iconic semicolon and “Keep Going” on his right hand. Instead of a hashtag, has opted for a cross.

Nadine popularized the “Keep Going” statement when she posted it on Instagram to raise awareness on mental health.

The statement is also meant to inspire hope in order to prevent suicide.

Ulysses said he chose to get the tattoo and share it on Facebook for awareness in order “to stop the pain of loss thru depression.”

“This is a battle against unforseen enemy (sic),” he said. “I believe that if we know the sickness we can have a cure.”

According to the US National Institute of Mental Health, while there is no one cure for depression, it is treatable through medications, psychotherapy or both. Treatment varies by patient and usually requires trial and error to find what best suits an individual.

His son Isaiah, fondly known as Ice, took his own life on Oct. 8. He was 16.

“The lost of a father or a mother is painful, the lost of a son is unbearable (sic),” wrote Ulysses on Oct. 14, Isaiah’s birthday. “The demons of depression is (sic) devouring our youth.”

Nadine has also admitted to fighting depression herself.

She shared positive words about her brother, remembering his achievements in life: “Im so proud of you. Never knew you had such talent with words,” she said of his written work.

“Im (sic) gonna miss your face and miss hearing your corny jokes. I wish you stayed with us longer,” she shared in an Instagram post on his birthday.
