LISTEN: Trent Reznor, Atticus Ross remake ‘Halloween’ theme

Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor and his frequent collaborator, composer Atticus Ross, have collaborated on a reworking of John Carpenter’s “Halloween” theme that was released this Friday the 13th.

With Halloween upon us, the new take on the 1978 theme was released as part of “master of horror” Carpenter’s upcoming album “Anthology: Movie Themes 1974-1998”, which is due out Oct. 20.

Reznor and Ross, who have previously collaborated on the soundtracks for “The Social Network”, “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo” and “Gone Girl”, among others, offer up a creepy rendition of the already spine-tingling score.

“I clearly remember my friends and I at 13 years old conning our parents into letting us see Halloween when it came out in 1978. We left the theater forever changed. … John Carpenter, it’s your fault that I turned out the way I did,” said Reznor in a statement introducing the track. JB
