BTS achieves dream of entering Billboard Hot 100 chart
Setting a new record, BTS entered the top 100 tracks on Billboard’s main chart — just as the group had dreamed.
According to Billboard on Monday, “DNA,” the lead track of the group’s new EP “Love Yourself: 承 ‘Her,’” debuted at No. 85 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, fueled by 5.3 million first-week US streams and 14,000 downloads sold.
BTS’ recent feat made the group the second K-pop act to have a Korean-language song on the Hot 100 chart, following Psy’s worldwide hit “Gangnam Style,” which stayed at No. 2 for seven weeks in 2012.
K-pop group Wonder Girls’ “Nobody” — which was recorded both in English and Korean — had reached No. 76 in 2009 and former 2NE1 member CL had also made it on the chart with her single “Lifted” last year, but both songs were in English.
Upon the release of “Love Yourself: 承 ‘Her’” last week, BTS said on social media that its goal was to crack Billboard’s Hot 100 chart. The group’s members also said they planned to hold a special event if they achieved it.

“Love Yourself: 承 ‘Her,’” BTS’ most successful release to date, also sold more than 750,000 copies in its first week, according to the group’s agency Monday. BTS has also become the first Korean act to land on global music streaming service Spotify’s Global Top 50 playlist.
