What is a more fitting way to showcase the life of illustrious painter Vincent Van Gogh than 65,000 frames of oil paintings?
The ambitious undertaking is exactly what makes the film “Loving Vincent”—a biography of the Dutch 19th-century painter whose brilliance was overshadowed by mental instability during his lifetime—unique.
The film is based on 800 letters the painter wrote.
He created over 2,000 artworks including “The Starry Night” and self-portraits after he cut off part of his left ear in a rage. He committed suicide at the age of 37.
To produce the film, about 115 artists were enlisted to paint each frame in a course of five months in a warehouse in Poland, reports BBC.

Polish theater actor Robert Gulaczyk stars in the title role. Lead actors include British Douglas Booth, who has starred in “Jupiter Ascending,” “Atonement” actress Saoirse Ronan and “Game of Thrones” actor Jerome Flynn.
