‘Love Actually’ cast reunites for short sequel

The original cast of 2003 film “Love Actually” is reuniting for a short film sequel.

The belated sequel, which stars Hugh Grant and Liam Neeson, will be streamed in Comic Relief’s Red Nose Day, an annual charity event held in the UK, on March 24, Deadline reported.

Other celebrities who reprised their characters in the romcom sequel were Colin Firth, Rowan Atkinson, Martine McCutcheon, Keira Knightley, Andrew Lincoln, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Lucia Moniz, Thomas Brodie-Sangster, Olivia Olson, Bill Nighy and Marcus Brigstocke.

In a statement on Red Nose Day’s website, director Richard Curtis said the short film was an earnest and nostalgic post-Valentine’s treat for their fans. “I would never have dreamt of writing a sequel to ‘Love Actually,’ but I thought it might be fun to do 10 minutes to see what everyone is now up to,” he said. “Who has aged best? I guess that’s the big question … or is it so obviously Liam?”

“We’ve been delighted and grateful that so many of the cast are around and able to take part — and it’ll certainly be a nostalgic moment getting back together and re-creating their characters 14 years later,” Curtis added.

In Christmas of 2003, “Love Actually” premiered in theaters and warmed moviegoers’ hearts, grossing $247 million (P12 billion) around the world. The plot twists and turns on the ups and downs of ten people and their significant others during the holidays
