Openly gay ‘Flash,’ ‘Arrow’ producer engaged to star athlete

TV writer-director-producer Greg Berlanti and soccer player Robbie Rogers are engaged. The openly gay couple announced their engagement via their respective social media accounts shortly before New Year’s Day.
Berlanti, 44, is the producer of various “Arrowverse” superhero titles on TV (“Arrow,” “The Flash,” “Supergirl” and “Legends of Tomorrow”), as well as the coming “Archie” live-action drama series, “Riverdale.”
Rogers, 29, is a member of the LA Galaxy team, which was crowned Major League Soccer Cup champions in 2014.
“[The year] 2016 was memorable for many reasons,” Berlanti said on Instagram. “For me, it was the year my heart doubled in size: First, when my son Caleb was born, [followed a few days ago] when I got engaged to my soul mate.”
The two started dating in 2013, and had their child via surrogacy.
Portman as female Thor?
Natalie Portman, who was part of box-office juggernauts like the “Star Wars” prequels and the “Thor” movies, won’t be back in “Thor: Ragnarok.”
Portman played astrophysicist Jane Foster, the love interest of the Asgardian thunder god. But even when the Oscar-winning actress had told various news outlets that she was done with the franchise last year, she joked that it may still be possible to return someday, say, in “Avengers 7.”
More recently, she told movie reviewer Pete Hammond, “Hopefully, one day, I’ll figure it out.”
Currently, in the comics, Jane Foster is suffering from cancer, but has become worthy of wielding the enchanted hammer Mjolnir, and is now the female Thor.
Perhaps Portman may be interested in helping bring that development onscreen, if the Marvel Cinematic Universe ever goes in that direction. —Oliver Pulumbarit
