‘Manang Biring’ wins Cinema One Originals Best Film
Carl Joseph Papa’s animated film “Manang Biring” won the best film award during the 11th Cinema One Originals Festival awarding ceremony on Sunday held at the Dolphy Theatre, ABS-CBN compound.
Manang Biring tells the story of a terminally ill old woman who has been waiting for her imminent passing due to stage-4 breast cancer and who was afraid to reunite with her estranged daughter.
The dark comedy-drama film was also conferred the Champion Bughaw Award.
Meanwhile, the film “Dayang Asu” won the best director award for Bor Ocampo and best cinematography for Albert Banzon.
Therese Malvar bagged the best actress award for “Hamog” while newcomer Dino Pastrano took home the best actor award for “Baka, Siguro, Yata.”
