Screen grab from Angelica Yap's Twitter account

IT looked like even the rival show’s “Pastillas Girl” was once bitten by Eat Bulaga’s “AlDub” bug.

In a tweet posted on Sept. 5, a week before her appearance on ABS-CBN’s “It’s Showtime,” Angelica Yap or better known as “Miss Pastillas” said she was affected by the AlDub fever when she watched Eat Bulaga’s hit “Kalye Serye” segment for the first time.

“Ngayon ko lang napanood yung aldub kanina kinikilig ako juskooo,” Yap said, referring to the trending on-screen loveteam of actor Alden Richards and online sensation Maine Mendoza or “Yaya Dub.”

Amid Eat Bulaga’s surging ratings owing to AlDub’s success, the rival show came up with its own “real drama” ploy featuring Yap, who was known online for her viral video of “bitter” pastillas recipe.

The new gambit of “It’s Showtime” was focused on finding “Mr. Pastillas” or the right partner for Yap, who first appeared in the noontime show asking Vice Ganda’s alter ego Madame Vertud for advice on how to move on after she was ditched by her boyfriend for her best friend.
