Karylle

Good things are worth repeating, just like the “Next Attraction” concert of OPM “princesses” Karylle and Isabella, and “princes” Robin Nievera and Paolo Valenciano.

It will be produced again by my good friend Pops Fernandez’s DSL Productions on Aug. 14 and 15 at the Music Museum in Greenhills. (For tickets, call 8919999 or 0916-7150672.)

Pops, Martin Nievera, Zsa Zsa Padilla, Kuh Ledesma and Gary Valenciano are surely proud of their kids, who are all following in their footsteps.

FEATURED STORIES

The cool “Gen Next” artists will definitely sound lovelier the second time around.

Here’s my tête-à-tête with Karylle:

How has married life changed you?

I’ve definitely become more domesticated. I keep house with my husband, do chores, the groceries, water the plants and cook!

Since my husband is a musician, there’s always songwriting and recording sessions at home. I feel pressured to keep up so I try to do as many gigs and concerts as I can. I’m finishing my new album now.

In what ways are you different from your mom Zsa Zsa onstage?

My mom oozes with passion and fierceness onstage. I try to have a friendlier approach as a singer. I try to be as passionate as Mama and Yael. Being around so many people every day in “It’s Showtime” has also changed me. Now, I feel like everyone is a close friend… even when I’m onstage.

What’s the best and the toughest part of being Zsa Zsa’s daughter?

I love hearing stories about my mom from anyone and everyone. They always have beautiful stories to share. I feel the love.

Tough? Our busy schedules. A busy mom and a busy daughter is a tough combo, but it’s a good thing that we also get to work together.

How’s your relationship with her boyfriend Conrad Onglao?

He’s a nice guy. I’m quietly strict as a daughter… I give them little tests. They’ve passed them all!

What have you learned about Yael now that you’re married?

He’s very thoughtful and he’s so patient. It’s so cute when he brings me to work. He cooks me a healthy breakfast! It comes with vitamins pa.

If your life story were made into a song, what would be its title?

Oh, it’s a soundtrack, but you will find it in our songs. “Iyong Iyong Iyo,” Sponge Cola’s new song, reminds me of how I love having someone like Yael in my life. It’s like a wedding vow.

What’s your song for your mom?

I wrote her a song and it was my first recorded composition called “Coz I Love You.”

Which of her songs is your fave?

“Point of No Return” by Tito Louie Ocampo (and Cocoy Laurel). It was really ahead of its time.

What’s the best thing that your mom has taught you?

She taught me to be strong. A few years ago when she had a cancer scare, she showed no fear and had complete faith in God. She didn’t make me feel like it was the end of the world.
