Following its acceptance in the Court Métrage program of the Festival de Cannes 2015 in February, the film of two AB Communication seniors of Ateneo de Manila University has rolled out its screening on May 13-24.

Titled “Agos: The Manila Dream,” the film, written by Mayumi Catabijan and directed by Ma. Angelica Gonzalez, is the production component of their senior project thesis “The Manila Dream: A Fantasy Theme Analysis of the Rhetorical Vision of Manila” under the advisement of Jose Angelo Supangco. It was described as a “fantastical exploration of the city.”

Tackling the fantasy and rhetoric of moving from rural communities and idyllic villages to highly urbanized cities like Manila, the story revolved around a girl named Nina who saw Manila as a place of fulfilling dreams and wondered why they never moved there but saw it as a “beguiling and lonely city.”
