Alex Gonzaga on her concert: Expect nothing
I’ve always been fond of Alex Gonzaga. She’s got spunk and panache. Since Alex is close to my son IC Mendoza, I frequently tease him: If he weren’t gay, I wish they’d end up together!
I miss their animated banter on TV5’s old show biz talk show, “Juicy.”
Alex is no longer just Toni Gonzaga’s little sister. She has come into her own.
The Kapamilya princess is raring to conquer Araneta Coliseum via “The Unexpected Concert” on April 25, at 8 p.m. (For tickets, call 9115555.)
With a best-selling book, a hit TV series and now, a major concert, Alex is definitely in full bloom.

At this point in your career, what makes you ready for a major concert at the Big Dome?
I really don’t know. I just prayed about it when the offer came. If it’s really meant for me, then it will happen, no matter what happens. So far, it’s happening. This opportunity is an answered prayer for me.
You seem to be following your sister Toni’s career path. How do you set yourself apart?
It’s up to the people to judge. All I can think of is that I’m younger and single!
What can the audience expect from your concert?
They should just hope for the best and expect nothing—not just from my concert but also in life! Seriously, I can only guarantee that they will forget their worries while watching my concert.
What’s hardest about being Toni’s sister?
Nothing. I’m blessed to have her in my life. I don’t see it as a disadvantage.
In what ways are you better than Toni and vice versa?
We are actually better together!
How do you handle misunderstandings with your sister?
We let it pass and then we’ll talk again as if nothing happened.
What would it take for you to fall in love again?
Right now, I’m still praying about it because I don’t want to fall again for the wrong reasons. So far, God is really helping me. I’m not “liking” anyone at all.
What’s your song for yourself these days?
“Break Free” by Ariana Grande. I am breaking free!
