Dream come true for Basil Valdez
Basil Valdez returns to the recording scene with his Yuletide collection, “The First Christmas”—a dream come true for the legendary balladeer!
The album opens with a rousing version of “A Christmas Carol,” featuring the Philippine Madrigal Singers, followed by a hymnal reading of “God Rest Ye, Merry Gentlemen” with hardly any instrument in the background except for the vocal harmonies of the Madz.
Renditions
They also collaborate on “Hark the Herald Angels Sing” and “O Come All Ye Faithful.” You will similarly love Basil’s renditions of “We Three Kings,” “What Child Is This” and “O Holy Night.”
A Marian devotee, Basil pays homage to Mama Mary in “Ave Maria,” with Latin verses giving it a touch of solemnity and distinction.
