Richard Gomez on Sharon Cuneta: About time we worked again
Richard Gomez said it was about time he and former reel, and real-life, sweetheart Sharon Cuneta worked together again. They last teamed up in the 2003 romantic drama “Walang Kapalit” and recently started taping for a TV5 comedy series, “My Pirated Family.”
“I broached this idea to TV5,” he told the Inquirer recently.
Prior to “Pirated,” Richard guested in four episodes of Sharon’s show, “Madam Chairman,” which ended in February. “It was a test of our screen chemistry,” Richard noted. “It worked, so we’re doing this now.”
He is excited that Joel Lamangan is directing “Pirated” and Jose Javier Reyes is writing the script. “I worked with Direk Joey [Reyes] for about 12 years in ‘Palibhasa Lalake’ so this is sort of a reunion. As for Direk Joel, what can I say—he works fast!”
“Pirated” is about a make-believe family out to claim an inheritance.”

I like this setup because I can do more—choose my projects, play sports and still have enough family time.”

Meanwhile, he is happy that his wife, Leyte 4th district Rep. Lucy Torres-Gomez, is hosting a new ballroom dance show, “Celebrity Dance Battle,” Saturdays on TV5.
“Lucy loves dancing,” Richard said. “She was a little down when ‘Shall We Dance’ (Lucy’s previous show) ended.”
Asked if he planned to work with Lucy on a TV5 show, Richard said: “Hopefully… one day. You never know.”
And would he guest on “Celebrity Dance Battle” if Lucy invited him? He replied, laughing, “Hosting and singing… no problem. But dancing has always been my Waterloo!”
