Palestinian artist to perform in Sharjah spectacle
MANILA, Philippines – Famous Palestinian artist Mohammed Assaf joins a stellar cast of Arab performers for “The Clusters of Light” theatrical production that highlights the inauguration of Sharjah, United Arab Emirates (UAE) as Islamic Culture Capital 2014.
“I am excited, of course. It will be a thrill to see the audience’s reaction to the many surprises in the show, and to its sheer scale and ambition,” Assaf said in a statement Tuesday.
“I am confident this show is so spectacular it will remain in people’s memories forever,” he said.
Joining Assaf are well-known Arab performers Ali Hajjar, Lotfi Bouchnak, and Hussein Al Jasmi, along with a team of around 750 musician, actors, writers, producers, directors, from all over the world.
The performance of “The Clusters of Light” at the newly constructed Al Majaz Amphitheatre will kick-off the inauguration of Sharjah as Capital of Islamic Culture on March 26.
Article continues after this advertisementThe government of Sharjah has spent nearly $408 million (AED1.5 billion) for infrastructure projects such as museums, universities, heritage villages, and the 4,500-seater Al Majaz Amphitheatre.

Composed by Khalid Sheikh, a distinguished Bahraini artist, “Clusters of Light” is about the life of the Prophet Mohammad and reviews the history of Islam from the Prophet’s birth to his death.
Assaf said that the motivation behind the performance is to provide a true picture of Islam and its human values that promote peace and love.
