Two Filipino films will be screened at the 31st Munich International Film Festival to be held in Germany from June 28 to July 7.

Brillante Ma. Mendoza’s “Thy Womb” is competing for the Arri/Osram Award in the CineMasters section with some Cannes entries like James Gray’s “The Immigrant,” Ashgar Farhadi’s “The Past” and Palme d’Or winner Abdellatif Kechiche’s “Blue is the Warmest Color.”

Meanwhile, Lawrence Fajardo’s “Posas” is featured in the International Independents section, along with Cannes films like James Franco’s “As I Lay Dying” and Mahamat-Saleh Haroun’s “Grigris.”

The indie section is described by the fest’s web site as “innovative, uncompromising … combines breakthroughs, surprises and undiscovered treasures.”

According to the site, the CineMasters section includes “the year’s most outstanding productions from around the world.”

A total of 174 films from 48 countries will be shown in Munich. Bayani San Diego Jr.
