Tardy star makes supporting actor lose job
Hunky Star was four hours late on the set of a high-profile project. Production Staffer decided to shoot around HS to avoid costly delays.
Supporting Player, on the other hand, had made an effort to get to the out-of-town location ahead of schedule. Only minutes away from the venue, SP got a call from PS.
PS said SP didn’t have to show up, because the scenes that SP would have been in were already done. PS decided to have those scenes shot first, since HS was missing in action.
Clearly, PS would move heaven and earth for HS, and SP was just collateral damage. SP was crest-fallen. HS’ tardiness had cost SP that job.
Mommyger’s regret
Article continues after this advertisementHigh-flying Mommyger thought the good days would last forever, because her Pint-sized Star was the toast of Tinseltown.
Article continues after this advertisementPS was swamped with projects, meaning HM could afford all sorts of luxury items.
One fine day, PS threw a tantrum. Studio bosses, seeing that PS could grow up to be a prima donna, quickly pulled the plug.
PS lost not a few assignments. HM certainly felt the pinch and regretted not saving for a rainy day.
Snubbed
Flamboyant Personality incurred the wrath of Troubled Star.
At a splashy show biz event, FP acted like the belle of the ball, giddy and gaudy, and blowing air kisses at fellow celebrities.
FP moved to greet Sexy Siren who was standing near TS. As FP approached, TS turned around and dashed out, leaving FP with a frozen beso.
Noisy FP must’ve done something really bad to offend TS.
Pricey punishment
Heard on the Radyo Inquirer program “Kliq Showbiz” (dzIQ 990 AM, Monday to Friday, 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.):
Handsome Actor caused a commotion at Sultry Lover’s workplace, challenging Hunky Guy to a fistfight. Big Bosses decided to punish HA, who was told to go on vacation.
Well, it seems BBs played into HA’s hands. Overworked HA had been pestering his handlers for a holiday for the longest time.
Now he’s going on a long break, reportedly in a pricey resort abroad. And word has it that SL will follow as soon as her work is done.
He who laughs last …
Stalk me not
Picked up from the Inquirer tabloid Bandera.
Talented Performer is upset with Gifted Entertainer. TP and GE have been planning to transfer to Different Studio at the same time.
GE, however, pulled a fast one and jumped ship without telling TP. Now, TP can’t bolt without looking like a second-rate, trying-hard copycat.
Last thing TP wants is to look like GE’s stalker, especially since there are rumors TP is infatuated with GE.
Top of the Talk Shows
For those who missed last weekend’s TV gabfests (and why we are moved, if we are moved):
- Reelected Batangas Gov. Vilma Santos’ advice to son Luis Manzano, should he decide to enter politics: “Kung ’di rin lang siya handa, ayokong pumasok siya na nagre-rely lang sa pangalan.” (Wise words.)
- Ate Vi on fellow celebs who lost in the election: “It’s not the end … no harm. We can try again because tomorrow is another day.” (Scarlett O’Hara, is that you?)
- Pauleen Luna on rumors that she and Vic Sotto got married in Macau: “’Di ako magtatago, at ’di naman talaga ako nagtatago.” (That has to be a “no.”)
- Elected Cavite Vice
- Gov. Jolo Revilla on his win: “Nagpapasalamat ako kay Jodi [Sta. Maria] dahil kasama siya sa victory na ’to.” (First, to the voters, yes?)
- Ryza Cenon on doing villainess roles: “It doesn’t mean na ganun ’din ako in real life. Nakakapagod kaya mang-away nang mang-away!” (Please tell …)
- Jennylyn Mercado on persistent rumors she’s living in with Luis Manzano: “Hindi totoo ’yun. Malayo pa, malayong-malayo pa.” (Ang layo naman!)
- Raquel Pempengco on daughter Charice: “Ang sinasabi ng puso ko bilang ina ay hayaan ko siyang ilantad kung ano ang tunay na katauhan niya, kung ano gusto niya, dahil doon siya magiging maligaya.” (Amen to that, mom!)
- Vin Diesel on visiting the Philippines: “The smiles here are genuine … there’s so much beauty I can’t explain.” (Sensitive toughie. So it’s true!)
- Lovi Poe, asked if she wanted to enter politics: “It’s not my turf. Let’s leave it to the experts.” (Is that a “never”?)
- Bea Alonzo on Zanjoe Marudo’s butt exposure in “Bromance”: “Naloka ako. Pero nakakatawa!” (There are many ways we can take this.)
- Rufa Mae Quinto on why she’s afraid of publicizing her love life these days: “Ayoko na, kasi ’di naman siya artista, ’di naman kailangan … wala naman kailangan i-expose at explain.” (Good call. Stick to your guns, girl, and spare us all.)
- Marjorie Barretto, asked what she had learned from the much-publicized family feud: “Hindi ko alam kung anong na-learn namin. Sabi ko nga, when the dust settles, anong na-achieve namin? I still don’t see kung anong natutunan namin sa lahat ng ito. Naging parang bad example pa kami.” (Your words, not ours.)
- Marjorie on how she felt about all the mudslinging in her family: “I’m really sad. Parang we have reduced our family name to a joke. We became a big joke.” (Not a very funny one, we might say.)
- Marjorie on the person who leaked her nude photos: “Pwede akong humarap sa taong iyon and say, ‘I’m a better person than you are.’” (Stop this already.)
- Vice Ganda on Coco Martin’s surprise guesting in his concert last weekend: “Natakot ako na baka lumabas [ang boyfriend ko] at napilit ng staff.” (We had bigger concerns than that. Overall, the concert, as we earlier reported, was a blast. But a few jokes were so cutting, they crossed the line—one, specifically, that made light of gang rape. Please. At no level should this be jested about.)
