Kris Aquino won’t quit ABS-CBN, will take a leave instead

MANILA, Philippines – Show business personality Kris Aquino will not resign from ABS-CBN but would “take a leave instead,” the network giant said Wednesday in statement.

“ABS CBN and Kris Aquino have met several times to discuss her intent to resign” but “after thorough discussions, [she] has agreed to take a leave instead,” Bong R. Osorio head of ABS-CBN Integrated Corporate Communication said.

The statement said ABS CBN understood Kris’ wish to devote her time to sons Bimby and Josh.

“On the other hand, ABS-CBN values Kris as an iconic talent and a respected national media personality. Both parties recognize her responsibilities to the public, her co-workers and to the advertisers,” the statement added.

ABS-CBN said Kris’ leave of absence would allow her “to spend quality time with Bimby in June when he is on school break and to bring  Josh abroad to advance his developmental progress.”

“ After her leave, Kris will honor her responsibilities and will fulfill her contractual commitments to ABS-CBN without impairing her role as a mother,” it added.
