John Prats will mark his 20th year in show biz by organizing a golf tournament scheduled Friday at the Eastridge Gold and Country Club in Rizal.

“I’ve been an avid fan of the sport for the past three years. It’s what I love right now,” he told media recently.

Although he initially found golf boring, and thought of it as an “old man’s activity,” John eventually got addicted to the sport after friend and fellow actor ABS-CBN talent Zanjoe Marudo introduced him to it.

“I used to play almost everyday, but only at driving ranges. But before I knew it, I was already playing at a proper golf course!” he said.

Dubbed as the 1st John Prats Cup golf tournament, the fundraising sporting event will benefit the rehabilitation of the Holy Trinity Parish in Cainta, Rizal and the Kanlungan ni Maria—a residential institution for the elderly.

“I want to mount something that’s close to my interests, and at the same time, will help people in need,” he said. “The elderly has always been close to my heart because I grew up with my grandmother.”

Expected to participate in the tournament are his sister Camille Prats, “Banana Split” family, and other celebrity friends. His rumored girlfriend Isabel Oli will also be there. Allan Policarpio
