VALERIANO AND ONG. Turned their hobby into a thriving business.

How about designing a whole cake using butter cream? It’s elegant, intricate, and it tastes good, too.

London-based bakers, Valeri Valeriano and Christina Ong, founders of Queen of Hearts Couture Cakes, are reviving the art of butter-cream cake designing.

FEATURED STORIES

Valeri and Christina commenced their partnership in 2011. They began sending letters to school and community fairs—until a school invited them to take part in its fair, for which they baked 200 cupcakes!

Thereafter, they were invited to bigger events—which required them to get better equipment. Then, they were invited to join the Experimental Food Society, a UK-based organization of culinary creatives.

Last year, they participated in the Cake International Show, where they won the bronze medal in the Wedding Cake category. They have since been invited to culinary exhibitions, and conduct classes. They will conduct workshops on Feb. 4-7. Visit queenofheartscouturecakes. com, or call 542-3289.
