I love Steven Spielberg because of his technical skills, but he makes sure that his audience enjoys the excitement he creates in his films. He’s child-like, and enjoys creating cinematic spectacles that are topbilled by young, feisty protagonists!
You scream as you ride on his cinematic roller-coasters, with scenes that are loads of seemingly spontaneous, spur-of-the-moment fun. There’s always something new in his movies! He handles children expertly, as evidenced by “E.T.” and his other youth-oriented films.
I first became a Spielberg fan when he made the frightful “Jaws,” which amped up many people’s fear of sharks and the open seas. The audience took the viewpoint of the shark!
Synergy
In “E.T.,” the director handled both children and adults with skill and ease. He guided little Drew Barrymore and Henry Thomas as they interacted with the adult characters. The duo’s synergy vastly contributed to the joy of the global audience that watched them. I also enjoyed “War Horse,” a “love story” between a horse and his young owner.
When I’m feeling blue, I watch a Spielberg classic and get caught up in its spell. In fact, I replay certain scenes of “E.T.,” like when Drew screams the first time she encounters the alien. In another movie, I also replay the funny scene of Harrison Ford encountering a knife-wielding huramentado! The iconic director isn’t afraid to have fun.
Spielberg must truly love animals and children. If I were one of the (human) actors in his films, I would complain, because I would surely be upstaged by all those horses and children!
