Last month, we caught Gina Alajar during the shoot of “Mater Dolorosa” in Pandacan, Manila for this year’s Cinema One Originals Festival. Alajar returns to acting as Lourdes Lagrimas. The film also stars Alessandra de Rossi, Mercedes Cabral and Carlo Aquino.
Compared to her roles in “Salome” and “Moral,” she says that her latest role is “meant for women my age. She goes through a lot, but she accepts love the way she understands it. She isn’t battered or maltreated. She doesn’t show her weakness, and she has a mind of her own.”
Hectic schedule
Alajar found Jerry Gracio’s screenplay for “Dolorosa” “intriguing and gripping.” To accommodate the film in her hectic schedule, she worked for eight days straight, juggling her directing stint on an afternoon soap (“Magdalena”) and acting for director Adolf Alix Jr.’s film.
She confesses, “I like working with new directors, because I learn from them. Magaan si Adolf katrabaho. He handles stress better than I do!” Her dream assignment is to play a woman with multiple personalities.
