She has won three major acting awards, but Anne Curtis does not think this gives her the license to be picky about roles and projects offered to her.

“Of course I want the best for me, but not to the point of being choosy. Whether the project is comedy, action or drama, I’ll do it as long as I like and connect with the script,” Anne told the Inquirer in a brief chat during her launch as the endorser of Living Water Refilling Station.

No pressure

Last September, she was named best actress by the Filipino Academy Movie Arts and Sciences for her campy 2011 drama flick, “No Other Woman.”

Mac Alejandre’s 2010 film, “In Your Eyes,” gave her a best supporting actress award from The Film Academy of the Philippines last year.

Awards could put pressure on one’s shoulders, Anne pointed out. But instead of fussing about equaling or surpassing her past performances, Anne said she just tries to focus on giving her best, every single time.

Always inspired

“I give my all with each performance, and as long as the director is happy and I know that I’m doing my job well, then everything will be okay,” she said.

Do awards inspire her to do better and strive harder? “I’m always inspired,” she quipped. “Awards shouldn’t dictate your work ethic. It’s important to always do your homework.”

Anne’s recent films, “A Secret Affair” and “No Other Woman,” both explored the theme of romantic infidelity.

Her dream project, Anne said, is “a period film.” Also, she added, “I’d like to do something very Angelina Jolie, like ‘Mr. and Mrs. Smith’ and ‘Salt.’ Or, something like Nathalie Portman’s role in ‘Closer.’”

Currently shooting the ABS-CBN series “Kailangan Ko’y Ikaw” with action star Robin Padilla, the Fil-Australian beauty seems ready to face the inevitable round of intrigues. Rumor-mongers are already claiming that Robin’s wife Mariel Rodriguez is jealous about the pairing.

“The mere fact that they’re married says a lot. I highly doubt that Mariel is jealous. We’re all happy in our respective lives,” said Anne, who’s in a relationship with Erwan Heussaff, brother of model-actress Solenn.

‘Not my family’

“I’ve been through a lot of intrigues, so I’ve perfected the art of ‘deadma’!” she declared.

She added: “You can say anything you want about me. But the moment you cross the line and disrespect my family, you can be sure I will react.”
