Apple David addressed allegations that she is “grooming” her 18-year-old boyfriend Chad Gammad, also noting that she is unbothered by the bashing toward their relationship.
The 33-year-old courtside reporter spoke about her romance with Gammad during a recent TikTok livestream, apparently in response to netizens accusing her of grooming the young basketball player.
“Hindi ko siya ginu-groom. Wala sa qualifications—’yung nangyayari sa amin, malayong-malayo sa grooming,” she said, as seen on the reuploaded clips of her livestream on X.
“Pero kung gusto niyong ipilit, go. Story niyo ‘yan,” she stated. “Kung sa tingin niyo ‘yun ‘yung case na nangyayari, bakit hindi niyo ireklamo at ipaimbestiga? Okay din sa akin ‘yun para ma-clarify na walang gano’n.”
(I’m not grooming him. What we have is far from grooming. But if you want to insist that narrative, go ahead. If you truly think that’s what’s happening, then file a complaint and have it investigated. I’m okay with that because it will prove that it’s not what’s happening between us.)
During the same livestream, David read a netizen comment seemingly teasing that she and Gammad may call each other “mhie” (mommy) and “anak” (child) because of their age gap.
“Hindi ako maoo-offend d’yan kasi baby ang tawagan namin,” the reporter said. “Nagagalit pa siya ‘pag tinawag ko siyang Chad.”
“Call sign naman baby. Even in public, kahit nandyan pa ‘yung coaches and teammates niya,” she further noted.
(I wouldn’t be offended by that because we call each other “baby.” He even gets upset when I call him Chad. “Baby” is our term of endearment. Even in public, and even when his coaches and teammates are around, that’s what we call each other.)
Recently, David shared on her social media pages for the first time a video featuring her affectionate moments with Gammad. /edv
