While Christian Bables considers acting as his expertise, he decided to take a short break from the entertainment industry to focus on putting up his own skincare line — a personal dream of his for quite some time.

Last October, Bables launched Wildskyn, a skincare line that aims to help fellow men take care of their skin and develop self-confidence, which he confessed has always been a thing that he himself had struggled with.

“Ang sarap sa pakiramdam, this is four years in the making. I feel like pwede nang pwedeng i-present sa public ang Wildskyn (It feels so nice. This has been four years in the making. I think I can present Wildskyn to the public),” he told reporters on the sidelines of his launch event in Marikina.

The actor shared that he had to prioritize his skincare line to ensure that it will be of good quality when it gets revealed to the public. Now, he can breathe a sigh of relief.

“Ang expertise ko ay pag-arte, wala akong experience pagdating sa pagbi-business. Good thing ang aking management, gina-guide nila ako. Malaking tulong din talaga sila,” he said. “Nag-focus ako sa pag-build ng brand and I know na hindi ako makakafocus kung makatanggap ako ng projects. Feeling ko ngayon, makakabalik na ako.”

(Acting is my expertise. I don’t have any experience when it comes to putting up a business. Good thing my management is there to guide me. They’ve been a huge help. I focused on building my brand and I know that I wouldn’t be able to focus if I keep on accepting projects. I feel like I can make my comeback now.)

Bables is aware of the many skincare products that are out in the market. However, he clarified that his skincare line is not meant to “compete” with others and instead, be an additional source of self-confidence for those who need it.

“I wanted to see confident people. Alam ko na maraming pinagdaanan [ang lack of self-confidence due to skin issues]. Ang hirap ng wala kang confidence na humarap sa maraming tao. It feels like it’s eating you alive. Sana matulungan nito ang mga tao,” he said.

“May space ang bawat isa sa market. More than competing, dadagdagan ko lang ang mga opportunities ng mga tao,” he continued.

(I wanted to see confident people. I know that a lot of people struggle with lack of self-confidence due to skin issues. It’s hard to not to have confidence when facing a lot of people. It feels like it’s eating you alive. I hope it can help more people. Everyone has space in the market. More than competing, I want to add more opportunities for others.)

While Bables is ready to get back into acting, he smiled when asked if he has upcoming projects in the works. “Abangan niyo lang (Just watch out for them),” he said. /ra
