Seventeen’s Woozi and Hoshi will enlist in the military on Sept. 15 and 16, respectively, and will be unable to participate in the group’s activities during the duration of their mandatory service.
Pledis Entertainment announced Woozi and Hoshi’s enlistment in a statement on Weverse on Wednesday, July 9. The announcement comes ahead of the Seventeen members’ “Warning” fan concert with legs in South Korea, Japan and Taiwan.
Aside from the fan concert, the video call fan signing for Seventeen’s “Happy Burstday” album will be their final activity before enlistment.
“Following the start of their military service, they will not be able to participate in Seventeen’s group activities. However, they will continue to stay connected with Carat through a variety of pre-recorded content,” Pledis said.
The label also urged fans to refrain from visiting the enlistment site due to the presence of “numerous enlistees and families.”
“Please send your heartfelt messages of farewell and encouragement for Hoshi and Woozi through Weverse. We ask for your continued love and support for the artists and best wishes for their safe and healthy return. We will also strive to provide our artists with all the necessary support during this time,” it added.
Woozi and Hoshi are the third and fourth Seventeen members to enlist in the military after Jeonghan and Wonwoo. Since Jeonghan, the 13-member group has been going through lineup changes during promotional activities due to South Korea’s mandatory enlistment.
The group’s leader S.coups is exempted from enlistment due to a torn anterior cruciate ligament injury. Meanwhile, Jun and The8 won’t enlist since they are Chinese citizens, as well as Joshua, who holds US citizenship.
Woozi and Hoshi debuted as members of Seventeen in May 2015. The former is the lead vocalist, chief producer, and is part of the Vocal Unit, SVT Leaders and Hoshi X Woozi units; while the latter is the group’s main dancer and lead vocalist, and is part of the Performance Unit, SVT Leaders and Hoshi X Woozi units.
Woozi and Hoshi also formed the Hoshi X Woozi sub-unit, and made their debut in March 2025 with the single album “Beam.” /ra
