Gerald Anderson made his return to the “Pinoy Big Brother” (PBB) house nearly two decades after his last appearance on the reality show.
Anderson was the latest celebrity houseguest to grace this “PBB” edition. The actor first entered the iconic house in 2006, where he finished as the Teen Third Big Placer.
In the June 11 episode, the “Between Maybes” actor was captured talking to the current housemates, asking them if they had seen their season, which was the first celebrity edition of “PBB.”
One of the housemates, Klarisse de Guzman, also known as Klang, answered affirmatively, referencing the time as the “Peng Yu” days, the song popularized by Anderson’s then love team Kim Chiu.
Sixteen-year-old housemate Charlie Fleming then asked the actor what year their edition was, which made Anderson realize that when their version aired, the former wasn’t even born yet.
“I think you weren’t even born yet at that time, oh my god, wow,” he said in disbelief.
Drastic change
As he is set to mark his almost 20 years in showbiz, Anderson recently looked back on his career, sharing how “PBB” changed the course of his then-simple life.
“The change was really drastic. Because you have to imagine, three weeks before PBB I was just in Gensan. I was playing basketball with my friends, we were just wearing slippers, we were just hanging out at the store. That’s how simple my life was. And then I joined PBB,” he recently told Luis Manzano in the latter’s vlog, which was posted on the latter’s YouTube.
Incidentally, Manzano used to be one of the hosts of the PBB Celebrity Edition.
As his star continued to shine after his exit from PBB House, exhaustion and frustration assailed Anderson that made him want to quit show business.
“M-W-F we would be taping ‘Sana’t Maulit Muli.’ T-Th-S we had ‘First Day High,’ basketball player ako nun. First movie namin yon. And the Sunday we have ‘Asap.’ Yung dressing room namin don, liliko ka, may empty space don. Bro umiiyak ako don, bago ko mag opening. Because whatever you do in life, di ka naman talaga magaling agad e. I would just be frustrated in tapings, everything. I’d never forget na nag break down ako doon,” he told Manzano.
Before Anderson, Chiu also previously returned to the iconic house. Other previous house guests include Barbie Forteza, Heart Evangelista, Jane De Leon, Bianca Umali, David Licauco, Donny Pangilinan, BINI Jhoanna, and Stacey.
Sanya Lopez, Paulo Avelino, Dingdong Dantes, Charo Santos, Michelle Dee, Gabbi Garcia, Ivana Alawi, Mavy Legaspi, and Kim Ji Soo also made celebrity appearances on the reality show. /edv
