Bianca Gonzalez pointed out that the use of a duo system in “Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Collab” changes the game, as it tests the celebrity housemates “in a wildly different way.”
The March 12 episode of “PBB” announced that a duo consisting of a Kapamilya and Kapuso housemates will face the reality show’s tasks, challenges, nominations, and evictions. This means that the current edition of the reality show will have a pair of winners from ABS-CBN and GMA.
Gonzalez spoke about the current edition’s implementation of a duo system on her X (formerly Twitter) page on Sunday, March 23, shortly after the pairs nominated for eviction were announced on the same day.
“We’ve done 11 seasons of PBB, and housemates, whether intentionally or unconsciously, ‘play the game.’ DUO nominations and evictions totally change the “game” and will PUT TO THE TEST this batch of housemates in a wildly different way compared to past seasons,” she said.

The “PBB” host’s post earned mixed reactions from netizens, with some noting that the reality show’s new format is “seriously unfair.” This led to Gonzalez explaining that the duo system was already done in the reality show’s counterparts in Spain, Nigeria, and the Netherlands.
“It’s a whole new competition mechanic for us, at bago man dito, nagawa na ang duo format sa (before it was done here, it was already done in) ‘Big Brother’ Spain, Nigeria, and The Netherlands,” she said in a follow-up post. “The housemates are forced to rethink what they thought the “formula” is to staying in the house, or even winning.”

Despite this, Gonzalez, too, is aware that the duo system makes the housemates’ stay in Big Brother’s house more difficult, especially when it comes to nominating individuals who should be up for eviction.
“Nomination is really one of the toughest tasks kasi mag-iisip ka ng kung anu-anong rason para mag-nominate. This DUO season is EXTRA DIFFICULT kasi magkaiba ang bawat tao ng rason, at magkaiba ang tingin natin sa individual [housemate] at sa ka-duo niya. A new challenge,” she said.
(Nomination is really one of the toughest tasks because you’re going to think of reasons why this person deserves to be nominated. This duo system is extra difficult because different people have different reasons, and they see individual housemates differently compared to their partners. A new challenge.)
I agree! Nomination is really one of the toughest tasks kasi mag-iisip ka ng kung anu-anong rason para mag-nominate.

The first pairs for eviction include AC Bonifacio and Ashley Ortega; Ralph de Leon and Michael Sager; and River Joseph and Will Ashley. With 10 points, the duo of de Leon and Sager received the most number of nominations from their fellow housemates.
Meanwhile, newly housemates Bianca de Vera and her partner Charlie Fleming were immune from the show’s nomination.
